Do consoles use Vsync?
Consoles do not suffer from Screen Tear as they are locked at 30/60fps by VSync which is why they have such consistent FPS. This is a huge disadvantage going from console to PC though, one that I noticed instantly.
How much latency does Vsync add?
A quick visual analysis shows that enabling VSync in fullscreen without locking the frame rate has the most input latency, as much as 7.5 frames. Disabling VSync in fullscreen without locking the frame rate has the least input latency, with only 1.333 frames of latency.
How noticeable is VSync?
I’ve found that vsync at higher fps doesn’t have as much or not really noticeable input lag. I’m talking 90+ fps. at 60 fps you can feel the input lag with a mouse but not so much with a controller. even at 60fps the input lag is most noticeable in highly sensitive aiming fps games like CS.
