Why did Palpatine kill Grievous?

Palpatine just ended up having to sacrifice Grievous with the way things turned out. He had to trade Grievous to get Anakin, and it was a swap he was more than willing to make. He needed the Clone Wars to continue a little longer to buy him time to turn Anakin, and it ended up paying off.

What if grievous killed Obi Wan?

What would have happened if General Grievous had killed Obi-Wan Kenobi in their duel in Revenge of the Sith? Obi-Wan couldn’t have gone to Mustafar, and Anakin would have strangled Padme on the spot. Luke wouldn’t have been born, so Vader would have ruled unchallenged for a while (below the Emperor).

Yes. Gunray knew that Sidious had a strong influence in the Senate. That’s made explicit in their dialogue in TPM. He doesn’t know Sidious is Palpatine though.

Palpatine killed Valorum (Plagueis) somewhere in the middle of the war, most likely right before Episode III. In another version, Valorum was the Emperor-like character. Interesting that when the prequels came out, he decided that Valorum was just the Chancellor, and the evil one was named Palpatine.
