Are Games Workshop models resin?

Currently Games Workshop only use 2 types of material for their modern miniature lines, plastic and resin. The plastic they use is a derivative of polystyrene, hence the use of polystyrene cement as the standard glue for the miniatures.

Why does Games Workshop use resin?

Probably because the resin/metal molds don’t work with plastic injection. Resin molds are also cheaper to produce than the plastic molds. That combination means that you see resin models for HQs and other limited seller models (by which I mean you don’t have a great demand for these models).

Get a cup of warm water and put one or two drops of dish soap in it and then mix it up. Add the resin pieces to the water and let them soak for a minute or so. Then take an old paint brush and gently scrub the pieces. After this is done rinse off the pieces and gently dab dry with a paper towel.

Why does Forgeworld use resin?

Resin is more cost effective for smaller production runs, the moulds are far far cheaper, which is why it’s the choice of material for many smaller manufacturers. It also provides a high level of detail, when used properly.

Can you wipe resin with alcohol?

If you’re looking for information on how to clean your tools (e.g. spreaders, mixing sticks, and mixing buckets) after use, just wipe out as much resin as you can with paper towel, and spritz them with rubbing alcohol and wipe them out to remove any remaining residue.
