What PC case size should I get?
Exact sizing varies from case to case, but most mid-towers run up to roughly 18 inches high and 8 or so inches wide. Mid-tower PCs are probably the most common form factor and have enough room to fit systems with a closed-loop CPU cooler, a couple of graphics cards, and a lot of storage.
Can I use old PC case?
The Case and Fans Of all the parts you can reuse from a previous build, the case is the most likely candidate. If you have a quality model that’s still in good shape, there’s no reason to change it. However, if you have an old-school case (see first image above), changing it is a good idea.
Can I put my gaming PC on the floor?
It’s fine. The floor may even be preferable in some situations. There’s a good chance you have more space on your floor than your desk and placing your tower on the floor will free up some space. Some people with heavy PC towers may be concerned about them toppling off a desk and falling on children or pets.
Is it bad to put PC under desk?
Depends on what you mean by hot, under a desk is fine but don’t let it sit on carpet if there are any bottom vents/coolers. well, when you have the PC under the desk it will be less in the way and it will get slightly cooler air as cool air is at the bottom of the room.
Why you shouldn’t build a PC on carpet?
Yes you’ll be fine. Even without a antistatic wristband, you can discharge static by touching the PC case once in a while. If you do want to be completely safe, you can have like wood or cardboard to step on so you are not in contact with the carpet as you build your PC.
Should you wear socks while building a PC?
Not wearing socks and shoes could stop static building in the first place . Socks with nylon in them on a wool carpet can build up a decent charge very quickly so taking them off could help .
Can you build a PC on granite?
Yes. You are safe to build on granite counter tops. Personally I build my computers on carpeted floors. Sometimes I do it while the computer is on, while using a shop VAC to suck out the dust.
Can computer towers be laid on their side?
Because vertical tower computers take cold air from the floor and eject it as it rises, laying these computers on their sides may restrict the airflow. If you do decide to lay a desktop computer on its side, at the very least make sure that no vents or fan openings are covered.
