What has PETA done recently?
PETA closed Taiwan’s drowning tanks, which were used to kill stray and unwanted dogs. Taiwan also passed its first-ever law against cruelty to animals. All car-crash tests on animals stopped worldwide following PETA’s campaign against General Motors’ use of live pigs and ferrets in crash tests.
Did PETA steal a dog?
A family in Virginia is suing animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for more than $7 million in damages after two employees allegedly took away a little girl’s dog in October 2014 and euthanized it. The family says the chihuahua, Maya, was intentionally stolen.
Why is PETA stealing pets?
Peta says the animals it puts down are often turned away by other shelters. And it said many pets are brought in by low-income owners who can’t afford to care for their elderly or sick animals. The organisation says it helps as many as 25,000 animals a year, spaying and neutering many free of charge.
