Yes. I have myself personally swum with mail hauberk on. It weighs some 10 kg, and does not limit the upper body mobility. I did rapid breaststroke, and was able to swim.
Is it possible to swim in a suit of armor?
It is basically impossible to swim in modern day armor that probably weighs about the same or less than medieval armor. Modern day armor is not anywhere near as cumbersome as that either.

(2 to 4 kg)—less than the full equipment of a fireman with oxygen gear, or what most modern soldiers have carried into battle since the nineteenth century.

The lacquer was used as an attempt to make the leather strong, but once the warrior in question could get good metal armor they did so and often for about the same weight.
