Blizzard had tremendous plans for Overwatch and the Overwatch League coming into 2020. After a series of incidents – including a global pandemic – questions about the future of their latest title are stirring. Numerous players and talent have left the Overwatch League and the current state of competitive play is toxic.

When people are salty, they’ll generally be passive aggressive and in a bad mood, but they won’t directly insult others. That’s when it becomes toxicity. That being said, some people really keep going on about little things. In essence it’s a bit of an autistic tendency that we all have to some degree.

If you need to keep playing, play single player games. And if you want to play Overwatch? Literally remove your ability to be toxic. Mute your mic or find a headset that has no mic on it so you can’t talk at all, or the second you log into game remove the chat feature.

How do you counter toxic players?
edited to add: Ignoring toxic players (either by muting them or just not responding at all) is the best way to deal with them. If they do not get a reaction from you, they will sooner or later stop talking to you and might be able to focus on the game more. You can also disable allchat in the menu.
How do you respond to a toxic player?
Report/Mute/Ignore. I know ignoring it seems like condoning, but when they’re doing it to get a rise out of you, you’re rewarding them by responding. I just respond by typing “lol” then ignore them the rest of the game.
