Is sneak attack damage halved?
Is sneak attack damage halved?
It should be noted that the sneak attack damage only applies to the single target on hit. It does not effect the AOE or deal extra (halved) damage on miss.
Does resistance mean half damage?
Resistance means that the creature/character that has resistance to a specific damage type takes half damage from that specific damage type. So if a creature was resistant to cold damage, and took 20 cold damage from a spell (or any other source of cold damage) the creature would actually only take 10 cold damage.
How would you describe damage resistance?
Pretty much, except that in 5e having damage resistance to a type of damage means that you take half damage from that type (and it doesn’t stack) rather than damage from that type being reduced by a fixed amount.
What happens when you have vulnerability and resistance?
With a foreword by Sandy ‘Ghostbusters’ Petersen, and VTT support! Resistance. If a target has resistance to a type of damage, that damage is halved against the target. Vulnerability. If a target has vulnerability to a type of damage, that damage is doubled against the target.
What happens when a creature has vulnerability to a damage type?
If a creature or an object has resistance to a damage type, damage of that type is halved against it. If a creature or an object has vulnerability to a damage type, damage of that type is doubled against it. This would indicate to me that rolling the dice then doubling or halving the result is the expected way to do it.
Which is better vulnerability or resistance in Fire Mages?
Fire mages have a reason to celebrate while facing down a shambling mound. Damage times actually matter, since resistance and vulnerability are so potent. I like the simplicity, and I think resistance is generally a better rule than DR because it won’t completely negate damage (except when damage is 1).
Why are vulnerability and resistance important in D & D?
Resistance and vulnerability both matter in huge ways, and it’s easy to explain. At PAX, whenever the skeletons showed up, the players with bludgeoning weapons had a field day. Fire mages have a reason to celebrate while facing down a shambling mound.
