Can you kill a king in Checkers?

You may not kill your own pieces. You may not make any move that allows your opponent to kill your King. In fact, you can't even put your opponent in check or checkmate while your own King still remains in check. You may not have more than one piece occupying a square at any given time.

Can a single checker take a king?

Jumping with a Checker A regular checker can capture an opponent's checker or King by jumping over it. A checker can jump on a forward or backward diagonal. The opponent's piece must be on an adjacent diagonal square, and your checker must land in the empty square just beyond the opponent's piece.

What happens when you king in Checkers?

A King can also jump backward and forward. It must jump when possible, and it must take all jumps that are available to it. In each jump, the King can only jump over one opposing piece at a time, and it must land in the space just beyond the captured piece.

The three squares must be lined up (diagonally adjacent) as in the diagram at the left: your jumping piece (piece or king), opponent's piece (piece or king), empty square. A king can jump diagonally, forward or backward. A piece which is not a king, can only jump diagonally forward.
