Can you jump your own pieces in Chinese checkers?
On a player's turn they must move only one piece. The player can jump over their own pieces, or over the pieces of any of the other players. Each jump in a string of multiple jumps must jump only one adjacent piece landing in an empty hole.
Does a player have to jump in checkers?
In modern checkers, all jumps must be taken. In American checkers, a jump must be made only over an adjacent piece. A piece cannot jump over empty squares. Although no one actually says so, it is strongly implied that single pieces cannot jump backwards.
What are the official rules of checkers?
The opponent with the darker pieces moves first. Pieces may only move one diagonal space forward (towards their opponents pieces) in the beginning of the game. Pieces must stay on the dark squares. To capture an opposing piece, "jump" over it by moving two diagonal spaces in the direction of the the opposing piece.
