Tonfas are still used to Hunt and Fight in Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia. With enough practice, Tonfas are incredibly dangerous weapons and the force in which they hit–are not something you can easily bat aside. A pinpoint strike with a Tonfa has enough force to cave in a breast bone, shatter skull and bone.
