Toontown Online, commonly known as Toontown, was a 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game based on a cartoon animal world, developed by Disney’s Virtual Reality Studio and Schell Games, and published by The Walt Disney Company. The game made its official launch on June 2, 2003.
Where did Toontown originate?
Toontown was reproduced in Disney theme parks as Mickey’s Toontown. According to its fictional backstory, it was a Toon suburb that Mickey and his friends moved to in the 1930s, and had long secretly existed right behind Disneyland before Mickey eventually decided to allow guests to visit Toontown.
When did Toontown rewritten open for the first time?
On August 20, 2014, just one year after the initial announcement from Disney about Toontown Online ‘s closure, Toontown Rewritten announced that they would open the game to all players and celebrate their first anniversary with a grand opening of the first in-game ToonFest event on September 19th.
