Answer: Puzzle pieces are, indeed, paperboard (except wooden puzzle pieces of course). Technically they could be recycled but because the pieces are quite small, especially in jigsaw type puzzles, separating them from other recyclables would be a difficult procedure. The box can be broken down and recycled.
