Why does R2D2 speak in beeps?
Why does R2D2 speak in beeps?
Astromech droids, at least the R2 models, can parse at least some spoken languages, since R2-D2’s comments are displayed to Luke so he can read them on the screen in his X-wing. Astromech droids already have a speaker they can beep through, so providing speech for them would be trivial.

How many c3po droids are there?
If you’re looking for the true lead characters of Star Wars, the only real answer is C-3PO and R2-D2. The two droids appear in Episode 1, they’ll appear in Episode 9, and they’re in every episode in between, as well as spinoffs like Rogue One, Clone Wars, and Rebels.

Is c3po a boy or girl?
It’s arguably unnecessary for BB-8 to have a gender at all, given that BB-8 is a robot. But it’s established that droids in the Star Wars universe have gender, and so far the only prominent ones we’ve seen in the canon, C-3PO and R2-D2, have been male.
Why did c3po have a red arm?
The other droid is sick of the memory wipes, of having no free will, and decides death is the only action it can choose to make. As a sign of friendship, Threepio adopts the red arm as his own, as a reminder of unlikely friendship. And that’s coming from the film’s comic relief character.
Can a droid be a Jedi?
No, but perhaps there could be. To the best of my knowledge, no Force-sensitive droids have been mentioned in canon, let alone Jedi or Sith droids. In Legends, there is Skippy the Jedi Droid, but he was non-canon even back in the old EU days.
Why is R2D2 so special?
R2-D2 was able to fix anything (better than other similar droids). It even defeated many other droids & robots. How is it possible? Every droid (of R2-D2 range) had everything same (tools, processing power, artificial intelligence etc.).
