FMAB is a sad, bleak world where basically the entire society is run by Nazis. Hunter X Hunter is way better. It is a very bright and fantastic world of every amazing and adventurous thing you could dream of. In this way, it is kind of like One Piece, though more mature, less repetitive/formulaic, and thus better.
Why FMA Brotherhood is better than the original?
I need to rewatch FMA, I personally prefer FMA:B because I felt the storyline was much more cohesive, much better planned out. I also felt that the characters developed much better over the course of the anime, gaining much more depth and realism. I didn’t like Brotherhood nearly as much as FMA.

It does get better. The early parts of the show are relatively weak because (as people before me have said), the show assumes you’ve watched the 2003 series and glosses over or ignores most of the actual events it covered that appeared in the manga.
