Mostly because of loading times (a 3.0/3.1 USB is pretty much like a SSD and all net cafes despite having 1.500$ PCs, they use HDDs :P) and secondary because addons so yes, it works, all you have to do is run wow.exe if you dont want the b.net launcher to install, if your PC is protected and cant install things.

Im looking to install WoW on a USB 3.0 or an external HD so i can play at work. I cant install anything on our computers without admin passwords. Ive heard it runs directly from the drive without any install if I copy it over from the computer its on at home. If thats the case, what size HD or USB drive would I need to purchase?

A 64 gigabyte flash drive would probably be juuuust a little too small, but a 128 should be quite roomy. Googling around, the internet consensus is that it should work ok at that capacity and interface.

But yeah, the entire World of Warcraft directory is portable. The settings in the WTF folder may not get along nicely with a system they weren’t originally configured for, so keep in mind you may have to do a partial UI reset. Also… this is technical advice.

Btw World of Warcraft takes a minimum of 25 GB of space as said by their system requirements so unless you have a 32 GB flash drive I recommend talking to your dad. I know my PC has a 1 TB hard drive so I WoW takes up a tiny fraction of the hard drive space.
