Why do I need dice for MtG?

Dice are usually used to a) determine who will go first by rolling 2 D6 and b) to represent different kind of counters on cards and for that D6 are really useful too. I personally like pips instead of numbers for MtG, but that’s just me 🙂 This, so much. About a dozen d6 should be all you really need dice-wise.

How do you get 100 on a d100?

Yes, a d100 is the same as 2d10 with one as the percentile. A d100 goes 1–100, a d10 goes 0-9. Neither allows you to roll a 0, because of the way you count a percentile dice. (00 on the percentile and a 6 on the other dice forms 6, 00 on one and 0 on the other is 100, no option will result in 0.)

How do you read d100 and d10?

0 is read as 10 for d10, so 0 should be read as 100 for d100? When rolling 1 die, the ‘0’ is 10. When rolling two dice, the ‘0’ is 0: unless, however, you roll two ‘0”s, in which case the reading is 100 rather than 0. So, with two dice, ‘4’ and ‘0’ is 40.

How do you roll a percentage die?

One die represents the tens digit, the other is the ones digit. 00 = 100 is the only exception. So if your tens digit die is 5, it’s fifty and then your ones digit is 6 then you rolled 56.

How do you read a D10?

If you have a d10 labeled 1-10, roll the other one first. 00-90 is your tens place, 10,20, etc. The d10 is your one’s place, 15, 27, 06, etc. So, a roll of 00 and 10 is 10, while a roll of 00 and 7 is 07.

So far, all the dice we’ve considered have had an even number of faces. My favorite of this type is the d2: the 2-sided die! As can be seen below, it is in essence a die for which 3 sides in a “U”-shape represent 1 and the other 3 sides in a “U” represent 2.
