Gwent is better than crack-coated playboy bunnies, it’s too late for you to get EVERY card, but definitely not too late to get a good deck and have some fun, you really should try it. Gwent is really fun, not just something to do on the side it’s actually a huge part of the Witcher 3 world, just being totally optional.

So if you are one of the people who wants to get all achievements, or finish all quests, you must play gwent. If you only want to finish the storyline missions, you don’t need to win a single game of gwent. This is my experience in the base game version 1.03, without any expansions. As it is, it’s just a Mini-Game.

CD PROJEKT RED There’s a lot of gwent options and a couple of quests as well in the game. As far as I can see it doesn’t have any impact on any quests or the main story if you don’t play this card game. Other than that you can complete the game without playing Gwent at all.

short answer, it’s fun to feel superior. this game has a good sense of fairness to it once you find your niche – which it allows many different playstyles to do without feeling too unbalanced. CDPR’s gwent team did a great job at making an otherwise easy to monetize f2p game fun to play.
