What is friendly robber?
The Friendly Robber is a small rule variation that may be combined in any Catan scenario – it stipulates that the robber (and the pirate) may not be moved to a hex bordering settlements belonging to a player with two victory points (or fewerpossible with the Poor Settler tile in The Rivers of Catan).
What happens if you roll a 7 in Catan?
When a player rolls 7, any player with eight or more cards must discard half of their Resource Cards. The discarded cards from all players go into a single pile of cards (similar to free parking in the game Monopoly). Players then roll to win the pile.

When a 7 is rolled, all players discard if they are over 7 cards. Then the Robber is moved. The Robber must be moved when a 7 is rolled and can be placed back on the desert. The person moving the robber must steal a card from a player adjacent to the robber if possible.
Can the robber steal Development cards?
Alex Kevern. And just to clarify, Development cards cannot be stolen by other players either. They are meant to be face down in front of you and separate from your hand, presumably to clear up those two issues.
Can you build on someone else’s turn Catan?
The 5-6 Player Expansion allows any player to build in the intervals between other players’ turns, using only the cards in his hand. This is called the Special Building Phase (SBP). Of course, it would not be possible to win during the SBP by buying a Development card that turned out to have a victory point on it.

How do you break the longest road in Catan?
You can break an opponent’s road by building a settlement on an open intersection along his road! On page 8, in the example, Emily has the longest road card with 7 segments. She has two houses within those 7 segments. This was also answered directly in the online FAQ as pointed out by @shemmon.

You may build as many things as your resources allow you to. You are not limited to one build/buy on your turn.
Do Settlements break longest road?
The settlement blocks your road if it appears at the end of your road, that is if one of your roads comes off it. If it is in the middle of your road, so that there are two of your roads coming off it, you can keep building at both ends, but the settlement splits the road in two when counting for longest road.

You cannot build more pieces than what is available in your pool—a maximum of 5 settlements, 4 cities, and 15 roads. A new road must always connect to 1 of your existing roads, settlements, or cities. Only 1 road can be built on any given path4.

How close can settlements be in Catan?
That rule states that settlements must be at least two intersections away from any other settlement or city. In other words, settlements cannot be built one space away from another settlement or city.
Can you build a city without a settlement in Catan?
Dan Caram. I know this isn’t possible in regular Catan, but in these Dice rules, it seems you can build a city without building the settlement first. The rules state that the cities ‘must be built following the sequence of their points’ and that the city ‘can only be built if it is next to an already built road’.
