There are no dice in Villainous, so the deck brings the element of chance. From my experience, the same villain hasn’t ever won two games in a row and every villain has won at least once. The games always get very close towards the end too! So I think the game is pretty well balanced.

How much power do you start with in villainous?

The first player does not start with any Power. The second player takes one Power from the Cauldron. The third and fourth players each take two Power. The fifth and sixth players each take three Power.

Can you discard both fate cards?

If both revealed Fate cards cannot be played, you must discard both cards without effect, you don’t get to draw more cards. If a card’s Ability is triggered when it (or another card) is played, the Ability is not triggered if it is moved.

Yup. Villainous has no hand limit. You can hold as many cards as you want. For most villains it makes sense to discard all cards you haven’t played in order to cycle the deck and get the critical cards out as quickly as possible.

Like stated above, heroes only need to be defeated if they’re needed for your objective, such as Jafar has to defeat the Genie, Hook has to defeat Peter Pan, etc. Otherwise no, heroes sitting on top of your board are merely just a nuisance, covering up your top two actions where they are.
