How do you get to Hardmode on Terraria fast?

A few friends and I came up with the quickest way to get into hardmode. We generally skip EoC and go straight for the biome specific boss, then go into hell (skip Skeletron/dungeon). A good world has us in hardmode within an hour. Start by exploring the surface.
