Can a Space Marine pilot a knight?
No. But there are plenty of knights and households with strong relationships with certain chapters. So you can for sure have knights, but they won’t be piloted by stress Astartes.

Choose an IMPERIAL KNIGHTS VEHICLE from your army that Advanced this turn. That model can declare a charge even though it Advanced this turn.
Can you shoot through friendly units in 40k?
The rules could simply specify that yes you can shoot through all friendly units or no you can’t but that doesn;t seem to be in the core rules for 8E. Even if people are stacking units, it shouldn’t matter that much. If they can shoot out, you can shoot in. The only time that’s not true is with tanks.
Can you use pistols in Fight phase?
Pistols are not used in the fight phase at all. They are used in the shooting phase but unlike other shooting weapons can be used when within 1″ of an enemy unit. If the unit is locked in combat you can only shoot your pistol against the unit you are locked in combat with.

You are correct. You cannot use a pistol as a melee weapon. I think Ma’s shotgun and the gunblade are the only weapons that can be used as melee or ranged.

This applies to all VEHICLES and MONSTERS, including Dreadnoughts and Walkers. This supports “all-rounders” that have both melee and shooting capability. The opportunity to outflank and move from off the board can also help vehicles.
What does Assault 2 mean Warhammer 40k?
Assault 2 means that it can fire after moving with no penalty, and after Advancing but at a -1 to Hit roll. It always has 2 shots at all of its range.
Can you assault after advancing?
The entire point of an assault weapon is that it can be used along with an advance. The general rule is that a model that has advanced can’t shoot, but the specific rules for assault weapons override this.
