Are control mages good in low Elo?

I would say that control mages could work in the current meta, but then the whole team would have to adapt to your playstyle. At higher Elo you realize that the entire game revolves around bot lane and every other position is played to influence bot lane in someway.

Is Malzahar good to climb?

Look at all 3 lanes.
Don’t rely on junglers in this elo at all.
Learn when to play passively.
Don’t tell someone to ward if they are getting camped.
If you are at the team fight stage and want to poke the enemy a bit before you sense a fight break out, don’t.
Turn off all chat.
