The house is not yours to own, but facilties: bed, grindstone & workbench are available. Also with the Hearthfire DLC add-on you can build a home with all facilties, Smithing, Enchanting Table, Alchemist Table, Cooking Facilties, Storage Containers & your own bed.

yes it does, it’s the TG way- that you can’t kill anyone during the normal TG quests but this was a special quest given by Mercer and Brynjolf so you’re allowed to kill if the situation requires it.
